The design prioritizes the integration of nature, capturing the natural beauty of the surroundings and allowing the residents to feel connected to the ever-changing rhythms of the river.
The residence exemplifies the marriage between modern architecture and its natural surroundings. By working closely with the client, the design team successfully achieved a home that offers unobstructed river views, surpasses FEMA regulations, and embraces a integrated indoor-outdoor living experience. One of the standout features of this residence is the main living space, which is enclosed by 10’-6” floor to ceiling glass on three sides. The Zola Thermo Alu 75 windows allowed for large expanses of glass with minimal mullions to open the view to the river. The covered patio blends seamlessly with the main living area when the 8 foot tall LiftSlide doors are open. This versatile feature extends the living space and blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, creating a flexible environment that adapts to the changing needs and seasons. The windows along with the LiftSlide door incorporate the panoramic river views as an key part of the living experience, providing a sense of tranquility and beauty. In the master bedroom the design team opted for low solar heat gain coefficient glass (SHGC) for the triple pane windows to reduce the heat load in the summer months.
This residence is not just a place to live but a sanctuary that harmoniously blends with the serene beauty of the Schuylkill River landscape.
